Begama is the current Turkish city in the province of Smyrna, ancient Pergamum. In the Hellenistic era, the city became a very important artistic center, considered almost a second Hellenistic Athens. Later, an important cultural center of Greece and the Roman Empire. The carpet is a splendid example of manufacture from the third quarter of the 19th century, intact in structure, excellently preser...leggi tuttoved, and has an extraordinarily bright pile. The small restoration works, absolutely invisible, were artfully carried out in distant times. The border with a light background is extraordinary, and the arrangement of the guls within the field surrounding the large central medallion is seductive. Period, charm, decorative strength, conservation, robustness and rare size.
