MaKri or Macrì carpets were knotted in southwestern Anatolia, the name refers to the small bay in southern Turkey facing the island of Rhodes (for this reason Makri were also called Greek carpets). These are rare, relatively small carpets with stylized designs in bright colours. The medium-height fleece reflects all the brilliance of the hand-spun wool. This piece, with a double niche, makes use...leggi tutto of two beautiful border frames that enclose a pair of longitudinal panels, one like a tree, from which large flowers sprout, the other, on the same plant, is played with gul that enclose star motifs . The extraordinary state of conservation means that it does not demonstrate more than one hundred years of life.
