A period of renewed interest in this great Persian handcraft, characterized by incredibly refined knotting, the use of valuable wools, a pile shaved to a few millimeters and an in depth study of the patterns.
Mohtashem carpets in Kashan, Hajji Jalili carpets in Tabriz, Ahmad carpets in Isfahan, Barakeh carpets in Senneh are among the best known manufactured pieces from that period; equally important are the Armenian Heriz carpets known as Serapi carpets, the carpets from Sultanabad (today’s Arak) known as Saruk-Ferahan carpets and the Kerman carpets knotted in Ravar.
